Places to Visit

Mexicali is the capital of the state and houses the heart of the state’s administration.

Like Tijuana, the capital is a border city with Calexico, California. There is constant border traffic and daily commerce interchange here.

The University Museum displays the state’s history in an excellent presentation. Another interesting place to visit is the Cucapah Museum, an indigenous community of the region.

The art galleries showcase the avant garde work of the local artists. One such gallery is located in the Universidad Autónoma of Baja California. The Chinese pagoda, located in the Amistad Plaza, is another important tourist spot. It can be found next to the Garita 1. The modern Civic Center that houses the public administration of the city and state, is another great spot to visit.

Other attractions in the city include: Laguna Salada, Guadalupe Canyon, the Rumorosa, Sierra de Juárez, Vallecitos, Hardy River, the Sol del Niño Interactive Museum Center, the city forest and zoo, the Youth Recreation and Sports Center 2000, Vicente Guerrero Park, the Arroyo Hondo Recreation Center, Presa Morelos and the Dunes.
